A Fantastic End to the First Half of the Season!
What an incredible finish to the first half of our season! Last night was filled with joy, laughter, and friendly games that reminded us all why we love our wonderful community.
A HUGE thank you to everyone who contributed to the celebrations – from the brilliant organisers to our amazing players, opposing teams, umpires, fixture secretaries, managers, and our ever-supportive spectators. Your dedication and spirit truly make a difference!
The First Half of the Season:
What a great first half of the season it has been for Stockton Hockey Club! Every team still has a lot to fight for in each of their leagues, with several of them chasing promotion to higher leagues!
Firstly our Men's First XI come to the Christmas break in a strong second position in the Y&NE Premier League. Hopefully they can keep up their current form after the break to keep chasing Newcastle University 1's and steal the spot to National League!
Next, our Ladies XI have also had a fantastic start to the season. They too sit in second position in Y&NE Women's Division 3 and are only a single point behind the current league leaders. This season it is looking like it could go right to the very last game to decide who earns promotion. Keep it up Ladies!
Moving back to the Men's side of the club, our Men's Second team are also in a promotion push from Y&NE Division 2! They sit in third position on goal difference behind Thirsk and are still only a single point behind the league leaders Newcastle University 3's. However, they have a game in hand that could entirely change the league standings. Keep an eye out for the details of when they will play their game to catch up in January!
At the other end of the same league, our Men's Third team have had a tough start to the season. Hampered by injuries and availability, they currently sit at the bottom of the table. There is still a long way to go however and safety from relegation is definitely still within reach, keep your heads up lads we are all behind you!
Finally, sitting in the middle of the Y&NE Division 3 in eighth position, we have our Men's Fourth team. Whilst also suffering the same problems as our Third team, the Fourth team have battled on fiercely and got themselves some fantastic results! There are definitely a few of the young lads in this team that could be the stars of the club in a few years time so make sure to keep an eye out for some of them!
As always, a massive thank you goes out to all of the parents, coaches, supporters, umpires and the players themselves for getting out every Saturday to play this great sport! We hope you all have a brilliant Christmas break and come back in January ready to start the battle again!
We can't wait to kick off the second half of the season! In the meantime, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a fabulous New Year!
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
