Today, our ladies faced a tough match against Durham City, finishing with a score of 2-3. Although we didn’t quite hit our usual stride – missing our regular goalie – our very own Stevo stepped up to the plate wonderfully. 👏
The first 10 minutes saw us establishing some good momentum, but after a high ball from Lynsey caught an opponent off guard (we wish her a speedy recovery 🌼), it seemed to shake our focus. Despite this, we rallied, and in the second half, we struck early with a goal just a minute in!
What followed was a flurry of near misses – we hit the bar, the post, and every part of the goal except the backboard! 🎯 Goals may elude us, but the heart and hustle of this team remain steadfast.
Today, the Girl of the Game celebrated a three-way tie between Lottie, Jess, and our superstar goalie, Stevo. 🎉 Meanwhile, Lynsey receives the ‘Wally of the Week’ award for her aerial antics. Don’t worry, Lynsey; we know you’ll keep that ball grounded next match!
As we gear up for our last hockey match of the season next week, let’s carry today’s lessons with us.
