Stockton travelled to Durham university early this Sunday morning, with availability poor, this saw the call up of Dave Skirv, Phil Mol & Jake Wheatley.
Stockton started off strong and had Durham on the back foot straight away 3 first half goals put Stockton in a strong position with two pc converted and an open play goal. The second half was a sobering wake up call that when a university team brings 16 and rolls 5 on and off constantly eventually the 13 man team of Stockton ran out of steam, with an early injury to Jamie metcalfe stockton where down to 12, at one point the midfield was made up of some very tired seniors youngest of which was the skipper at 35, durhams youth and fitness started to show through, not helped by the 5 penalty strokes given, Dan stepped up and saved two of them.
Hard pill to swallow after a dominant show on Saturday, a close game in the end where a draw would’ve been a fair result, nevertheless Stockton return next Saturday with a full squad ready to get things back on the right track
