Men's 2s vs stokesley 2

What a massive weekend of winning for our Men's 2nd Team! After last week's disappointment of losing to Newcastle University 3's the boys knew this weekend could define the outcome of their season and they certainly delivered. Yesterday they took on Hild Bede at Eaglescliffe and brought home a decisive 5-1 victory with goals from Oli Smart, Jamie Metcalfe and Max Millington. Then today the team took the short trip to Macmillan Academy to play against Stokesley 2's.

Both teams looked fresh and ready to give it their all for their clubs today in another 5 goal thriller. There was end to end action from the very first whistle as both teams tried to get the first goal but our boys in white won the race with Phil Molyneux opening the scoring within the first 10 minutes against his former club. Stokesley were not giving up easily though and fought back until being stopped in their tracks by the clubs personal tackling robot we call Dan Hill who repeatedly shut down many of the Stokesley attacks through the whole game. A few minutes later, clearly not content with just one goal, Molyneux scored again, ending a well worked team goal! Going into the second half Stockton looked dominant with our wide defenders Shaun and Jacob almost as high up the pitch as the strikers. Then two goals came in short succession, courtesy of Rich Harriman and Jamie Metcalfe, thoroughly putting the game to bed. Stokesley had other ideas however as they continued to pile the pressure on, with an excellent goal line clearance by Jacob. Stokesley then managed to steal a consolation goal from a short corner taking the final result to Stockton 4, Stokesley 1.

A massive thanks to everyone who played today, double header weekends are always tough! Special mention too to all of the future stars of the club that stepped up from our 3rd and 4th team to help out, you were all amazing!
